Job summary

The Senior Associate Athletics Director / Business Operations at Virginia Tech Athletics will oversee day-to-day fiscal activities, including budgeting, planning and analysis, procurement, and financial reporting, while guiding affiliated organizations and workflow across the department.

Reporting to the Athletics CFO, this role requires strategic financial leadership, strong collaboration with diverse partners, and the ability to translate complex concepts for senior university leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business/accounting or related field with significant experience, or a master's degree.
• Ability to build and implement strategic financial plans and convey concepts to senior leadership.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

Reporting directly to the Executive Associate AD, Athletics CFO, the Sr. Assoc. AD / Business Operations will manage the day-to-day fiscal activities to include team/support budgeting, financial planning and analysis, procurement, financial reporting, affiliated organization support, and overall workflow management. This position will directly or indirectly oversee all business operations and business services positions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business/accounting or related field with significant experience, or a master's degree.
• Proven ability to build and implement strategic financial plans, including operating and capital, and to convey concepts to a broad audience including university senior level administrators.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
• Well-developed ability to demonstrate technical expertise in financial planning, management, and analysis in order to provide senior leadership with highly developed decision support.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Functional familiarity with standard desktop applications, with expertise required in Excel.
• Must be able to work effectively and willingly with diverse coworkers, students, and outside representatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Significant NCAA athletic financial management experience at the Division I level.
• First-hand familiarity with university fund accounting systems.
• Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations relevant to position.
