As a Materials Planner, you will be an integral part of our customer-facing Supply Chain team, ensuring the materials needed for production are available when required. You will manage self-directed planning activities, resolve material shortages and gaps, expedite materials when necessary, and occasionally execute purchase orders to close supply gaps.

In this customer-focused role, strong communication and relationship-building skills will be critical to your success. You will use material analytics to confirm availability, identify risks, and proactively support on-time production. Your ability to analyze data, make sound decisions, and collaborate with internal teams and customers will directly contribute to meeting production and customer commitments.

How Will You Make an Impact?
  • Analyze material requirements and kit demand for the upcoming 12–26 weeks.
  • Plan and commit kits based on material availability for assigned customers.
  • Identify material gaps that may prevent achievement of targeted kit drop dates.
  • Develop mitigation plans and elevate material issues that may jeopardize production or revenue.
  • Manage the purchase of customer-provided parts and materials as required.
  • Partner with Program Managers to ensure alignment between Tecan and customer requirements.
  • Provide customers with weekly excess material approval requests.
  • Follow the established workflow to obtain customer approvals and close excess material issues within the required timeframe.
  • Prepare and analyze the monthly Excess Resolution Report using Spotlight, including zero-demand and excess inventory with demand.
  • Validate material data, identify changes or discrepancies, and provide recommendations as needed.
  • Coordinate sales order entry for approved excess inventory sales.
  • Coordinate shipment of excess materials to customers.
  • Work with customers to coordinate purchase order changes resulting from final quantity variances.
  • Monitor buyer pull-in actions to ensure identified material gaps are resolved.
  • Run What-If analyses to support customer pull-in and push-out requests.
  • Perform material impact analysis and disposition activities associated with Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Conduct quarterly Bill of Materials (BOM) profile analyses to identify sole-sourced components, long-lead-time materials, risk buys, and potential obsolescence as part of the Material Mitigation Program.
What You Bring
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex material issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage self-directed tasks, and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Strong decision-making skills and demonstrated follow-through.
  • Ability to communicate material risks clearly and elevate issues appropriately.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with customers, buyers, Program Managers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities.
Your Background
  • The experience, education, and technical qualifications required for the role.
  • 5–7 years of experience in materials planning, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Experience with direct material purchasing or procurement.
  • Advanced Excel skills for reporting, data analysis, and scenario modeling.
  • Experience in a customer-facing supply chain role.
  • Experience with BOM analysis, shortage management, excess inventory resolution, and material risk mitigation.
  • Experience performing material impact analysis related to Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Intermediate-level Excel skills for reporting and data analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Nice to Have
