Tecan is seeking a Data Manager / Junior Planner at our Baldwin Park, CA site to maintain SAP master data and support production planning, ensuring manufacturing operations run smoothly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Operations, IT, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with SAP ERP.
• Minimum 2 years with SAP modules and master data management.
• Financial valuation knowledge is a plus, especially in M1–M10 product realization.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and validate SAP master data (material/equipment masters, functional locations, recipes, BOMs, business partners).
• Ensure data accuracy and adherence to procedures before activation.
• Maintain SAP data across manufacturing, finance, quality, purchasing, inventory, and SCM.
• Create/maintain product line schedules and material requests to support production.
• Monitor MRP signals and safety stock to ensure material availability.
• Investigate data errors, identify root causes, implement corrective actions.
• Support SAP enhancements, testing, and process improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet operational needs.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate SAP master data and supporting production planning to ensure manufacturing operations run efficiently. You will serve as a key resource for SAP data management, helping teams understand how data impacts system functionality, production schedules, inventory, and business processes.

How Will You Make an Impact?

• Create, maintain, and validate SAP master data, including material masters, equipment masters, functional locations, recipes, bills of material, business partners, and other related records.
• Ensure all data is accurate, complete, and entered according to established procedures, policies, guidelines, and business requirements before it is approved and activated.
• Maintain SAP data related to manufacturing, finance, quality, purchasing, inventory, warehouse management, sales, distribution, and maintenance.
• Create and maintain product line schedules and material requests to support production needs and keep manufacturing activities within capacity.
• Monitor material requirements planning (MRP) signals and safety stock levels to support material availability and maintain a steady flow on the production floor.
• Investigate master data and recipe errors, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
• Support SAP system enhancements, testing, process improvements, and updates to procedures and policies.
• Work with cross-functional teams and key business users to ensure SAP data supports operational needs and delivers the expected business results.
• Maintain alignment between SAP and related business systems and tools.
• Review and approve material and business partner creation in accordance with established processes.
• Support site-wide SAP process improvements and serve as a resource for employees who need help troubleshooting master data issues.

What You Bring

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate, reliable data.
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate errors and identify root causes.
• The ability to work collaboratively with different departments and support internal customers.
• A process improvement mindset and the ability to understand how data affects manufacturing, inventory, and business operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining data accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Your Background

• A bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Information Technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
• 2 years minimum experience working with an SAP ERP system.
• 2 years minimum experience with SAP modules and master data management.
• An understanding of financial valuation is an asset, particularly within the M1–M10 product realization process.
