Make an Impact at Tecan

Through Tecan CDMO, we provide contract product development and electronic manufacturing services to MedTech and In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) OEMs, helping bring innovative products from development through manufacturing.

As our Senior Director, Supply Chain, you will lead the end-to-end supply chain for our CDMO/EMS operation, overseeing Purchasing, Planning, and Quoting/Estimating. You will ensure material availability, optimize inventory, support competitive and accurate customer quotations, and build scalable planning processes that drive revenue growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

This role combines strategic leadership with deep expertise in electronics manufacturing supply chains, customer-facing quotations, material cost management, demand and production planning, and cross-functional execution in a high-mix, low-to-medium-volume and/or regulated manufacturing environment.

Working closely with Operations, Program Management, Finance, Engineering, Quality, and Commercial teams, you will align supply chain strategy with business objectives, improve responsiveness to customer demand, mitigate supply risks, and support profitable growth.

How Will You Make an Impact?
  • Lead and develop the Purchasing, Planning, and Quoting/Estimating teams to deliver strong performance across service, cost, quality, and execution.
  • Develop and execute supply chain strategies that support business growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and working capital goals.
  • Build scalable processes, strengthen team capabilities, and establish clear performance expectations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Contribute to strategic and operational planning as a member of the site leadership team.
  • Oversee procurement activities, including sourcing, supplier relationships, negotiations, cost reduction, and supply continuity.
  • Develop sourcing strategies that balance cost, lead times, quality, flexibility, and supply assurance.
  • Build strong relationships with strategic suppliers and lead executive-level supplier discussions.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply risks through alternate sourcing, capacity planning, and contingency plans.
  • Drive material cost improvements through purchase price variance (PPV) reduction, resourcing, cost analysis, and supplier negotiations.
  • Ensure procurement readiness for new product introductions, production ramp-ups, customer transitions, and ongoing manufacturing.
  • Partner with Quality and Engineering to improve supplier qualification, performance, and issue resolution.
  • Lead demand, supply, production, and material planning to support on-time delivery and efficient factory operations.
  • Establish planning processes that optimize inventory, material availability, production schedules, and capacity.
  • Improve forecasting, master production scheduling (MPS), material requirements planning (MRP), order management, and shortage management.
  • Partner with customers, Program Management, and Operations to manage demand changes, supply constraints, and production priorities.
  • Lead Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP/SIOP), as applicable, to align demand, supply, inventory, and financial objectives.
  • Improve ERP planning accuracy, master data quality, and planning parameters.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators, including on-time delivery, inventory turns, past-due orders, shortages, expedite costs, and forecast accuracy.

Oversee supply chain and material cost inputs for new and existing customer quotations.

  • Ensure quotations are accurate, competitive, and delivered on time, considering sourcing strategies, lead times, market conditions, and customer requirements.
  • Partner with Business Development, Program Management, Engineering, and Finance to support new business awards and profitable growth.
  • Review bills of materials (BOMs), approved vendor and manufacturer lists (AVL/AML), production cycle times, inventory assumptions, and supply risks when preparing customer proposals.
  • Establish consistent costing and quotation processes to improve accuracy, turnaround time, pricing discipline, and win rates.
  • Support customer negotiations involving material costs, lead times, non-cancelable/non-returnable (NCNR) commitments, inventory strategies, and supply risks.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from quotation to production by aligning commercial assumptions with operational execution.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Finance, Program Management, Quality, and Commercial teams to support execution from quotation through production and delivery.
  • Help resolve customer escalations related to material shortages, cost changes, excess and obsolete inventory, expedited orders, and delivery commitments.
  • Lead supply chain readiness for new product introductions, product transfers, capacity expansions, and strategic customer programs.
  • Work with Finance to manage inventory health, reserves, standard costs, cost roll-ups, and working capital performance.
  • Provide leadership visibility into risks, opportunities, and corrective actions affecting revenue, margins, and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Improve ERP/MRP utilization, data accuracy, planning parameters, and reporting visibility.
  • Establish consistent KPIs, dashboards, and business reviews across Purchasing, Planning, and Quoting/Estimating.
