  • Create project proposals showing JDC’s value to the customer.
  • Create and maintain project proposals and value propositions for customers.
  • Read, interpret, and modify specifications, schematics, and job site schedules.
  • Deliver financially sound projects with appropriate risk mitigation and costing.
  • Engage in quotation and leveling meetings with customers and consultant engineers.
  • Provide regular updates on projected wins to align downstream planning.

Job description

The Senior Applications Engineer will actively champion electrical equipment proposal opportunities from inception through Equipment Drawing approvals. Opportunities will include multiple product lines consisting of High Voltage Equipment, Medium Voltage Equipment, Low Voltage Equipment, Power Transformers, Controls and Monitoring as well as Field Service and assist Sales team with closing large complex projects with direct customer interaction. Position will require engineering discussions with end users, general contractors, consultant engineers, other equipment vendors, utilities and others as required.

Lead and drive multi-disciplinary and cross functional teams, including engineering, operations, vendor management, logistics and services to ensure successful and thorough project design and development.

Work closely with sales to understand customer needs and concerns.

Create Project Proposals which clearly show JDC’s value to the customer.

Create and maintain relationships with end users, engineers and vendors.

Thorough understanding of equipment provided in proposals. Able to read, understand and modify specifications, one-lines, schematics and job site schedules.

Responsible for delivering a financially sound project with adequate risk mitigation plans and proper costing based on a complete understanding of the requirements of the project.

Maintain urgency with stakeholders for deliverables.

Understand the proposed customer schedules and how they will interact with the available lead times from our vendors. The senior application engineer is responsible for mediating the expectations of customer with what is available from the market, essentially setting JDC and the customer up for a successful experience.

Be the lead participant for JDC Power Systems LLC in quotation and leveling meetings with customers and consultant engineers.

Provide regular and insightful updates internally about projected wins so downstream teams can prepare for upcoming workload by selecting the right project management and service providers for the work.

Effectively manage all customer expectations throughout the quotation process.

Analyze and itemize deficiencies in specifications and create value added options for customers demonstrating JDC’s features and benefits.

Effectively communicate with outside suppliers at all levels from order management to senior management as required.

Responsible for report development and monitoring.

Identify areas of opportunity to better optimize plans/processes.

Drive continuous process improvement.

Other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

8 - 10 years progressive experience in related field with successful demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge

BE/BS in related discipline or related work experience

  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics and specifications.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues.
  • Proactive and solution oriented.
  • Ability to interact with all groups within the organization and achieve positive results.
  • Ability to interact directly with customers and vendors at multiple levels.
  • Detail oriented
  • Experience with contractors and change order management
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft Office Suite of products

Other Requirements

Travel Requirements: 20% travel to manufacturing facilities, job sites, and corporate offices with notice
