Senior Application Architect

Role Overview
This position is for a hands-on Application Architect to lead the design and development of new applications for a Casino Management System. This is a greenfield development project focused on building modern, scalable systems from the ground up. The architect will contribute a significant portion of their time to hands-on coding while also guiding the development team and making key architectural decisions. This role is part of a small, collaborative team and is critical for shaping the technical direction of new products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design of new applications, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
- Design and build a modular, scalable architecture, contributing code directly with a focus on Node.js, React, and TypeScript.
- Make decisions regarding application structure, patterns, scalability, maintainability, and integrations.
- Guide and mentor developers while actively participating in coding and development activities.
- Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools.
- Collaborate with DevOps and QA teams to ensure applications are production-ready, considering CI/CD, containerization, and observability.
- Design databases and conduct data modeling for applications.
- Maintain thorough documentation of architectural designs, decisions, and processes.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in software development, with at least 1-3 years in an application architect role.
- Demonstrated experience leading design and building systems end-to-end.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Node.js, React, and TypeScript.
- Experience working in DevOps environments (CI/CD, Containerization, Observability).
- Understanding of microservices architecture and design patterns.
- Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in other relevant programming languages such as Java or Python.
- Familiarity with API gateways and management solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the gaming or casino industry.
- Background in a startup or similar fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with IAM solutions (e.g., Okta, Auth0) and protocols like OAuth 2.0.
