Work Arrangement: This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires in‑office presence in our Columbus OH two days per week (Wednesday and Thursdays). Candidates must be based within a commutable distance to Columbus, Ohio.

Data Dynamos provides the operational backbone for Nationwide’s data governance platforms, including Alation, Anomalo, MANTA, and Semarchy. The team is responsible for platform stability, upgrades, issue resolution, monitoring, documentation, security activities, and day‑to‑day customer support. These capabilities are essential to keeping the platforms reliable and available for associates who depend on trusted data, metadata, and lineage services.

The Sr. Analyst, Technology Engineer role is a key technical support position for these suites of tools. The role provides hands‑on platform administration, connector and integration support, automation, release awareness, access management, and AWS‑based engineering support. These responsibilities are directly tied to the availability, maintainability, and secure operation of the platform.

Ideal candidate will have:
  • Python development REST APIs / API Integration SQL Cloud / AWS Fundamentals Data Governance & Metadata Management Git / source control Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle CI/CD (GitHub Actions and Harness) Experience with data platforms such as Alation, Snowflake, Databricks, etc. is a plus

Job Description Key Responsibilities:
  • Executes all aspects of capacity: driving requirements to meet current and future needs, tracking capacity postures.
  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Analyzes reports and delivery recommendations to remediate capacity issues.
  • Implements capacity enhancements.
  • Participates in technology/product optimization, migrations and management, including technology/product design, planning, power and environmental management.
  • Continuously improves and enhances existing environments.
  • Maintains proper hardware and software currency levels by working on recommended upgrades.
  • Conducts proactive system maintenance, disaster recovery planning, data backup and recovery as well as inventory, configuration and utility product management.
  • Executes production engineering processes, including incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, change management, release management and knowledge management.
  • Supports operational efforts to maintain environments.
  • Provides production support for technology platforms.
  • Assists with disaster and business recovery planning and testing.
  • Provides oversight for technical labs and development environments.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Engineering Manager or Technology Product Manager.

Typical Skills and Experiences:
  • Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems or a related field are preferred.
  • License/Certification/Designation: Technology certifications or designations are not required, but encouraged (i.e., AWS, Azure, scripting and development languages, delivery methods, security).
  • Experience: Two or more years of experience developing and implementing integrated solutions.
  • Experience in testing and debugging integrated solutions.
  • Understanding of system management processes and tools.
  • Understanding of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and package solutions.
  • Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong communication skills and knowledge of planning, management and execution of the Accelerated Solutions Delivery framework are needed.
  • Information Security acumen, ability to influence, negotiate, and set priorities are also needed.
  • Insurance or financial services industry knowledge is a plus.
  • Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
  • Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the Vice President and Human Resource Business Partner.
