Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Data Engineer to join the NF Data Warehouse/Lakehouse team in a hybrid Columbus-based role. You’ll design and publish data for analytical and operational use, leveraging Snowflake-based Lakehouse architectures and diverse Nationwide Financial products.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in software engineering, strong SQL, Snowflake expertise, and Python ETL/ELT experience, with collaboration and DevOps/Cloud exposure to thrive in an agile environment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, MIS, or related field.
  • Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
  • Four or more years of software engineering, analysis, or related technology experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, and JavaScript; strong SDLC knowledge and collaboration skills.

  • Apply secure software and systems engineering practices to protect data and solutions.

We’re looking for a motivated Data Engineer to join the NF Data Warehouse/Lakehouse team within Digital Back Office (DBO). This role involves the delivery of data solutions and managing data integration across various Nationwide Financial products. This is a great opportunity to work on impactful data solutions that support a wide range of Nationwide Financial products, including Annuities, Life, Retirement, and Corporate Solutions. In this role, you’ll help drive data integration efforts across platforms, working with a modern Snowflake based data Lakehouse. You’ll be responsible for acquiring, curating, and publishing data for both analytical and operational use cases, while also helping to shape the future of our data ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Proficient in SQL.
  • Strong proficiency in Snowflake (or equivalent) is essential
  • Experience in ETL/ELT processes including Python
  • Experience working in Lean, Agile, DevOps, and Cloud hosting environments.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week on Mondays & Tuesdays. However, on occasion, applications from internal candidates working remotely who bring critical industry skills and relevant experience may be considered.

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

Typical Skills and Experiences

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge is a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies, and experiences may take precedence.
