Job summary

First National Bank of Omaha is seeking a Senior Analyst, Operational Risk to lead and perform key ORM program functions, including issue management, governance, and policy development. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with SMEs and business partners to coordinate investigation and resolution of issues.
  • Provide issue management support ensuring summaries and corrective actions align with bank standards.
  • Track progress to ensure timely remediation and escalate past-due items in Archer.
  • Review Issue Files and validate remediations per risk program.
  • Participate in the Enterprise Issue Working Group and provide credible challenge on risk ratings and remediation plans.
  • Perform omissions testing on rejected investigations and validate Archer data.
  • Prepare reporting and enhance trending and analysis for management and committees.
  • Support evolution of issue management requirements and program documentation.
  • Facilitate materials and reporting for the Operational Risk Management Committee.

Summary of the Job

The Sr Analyst, Operational Risk is responsible for leading, developing, and performing certain First National of Nebraska, Inc. (FNNI) Operational Risk Management (ORM) program functions. A primary focus of this role includes coordinating the investigation and resolution of business self-identified issues in collaboration with risk subject matter experts and business partners. Additional responsibilities include policy/program development, enhancement, and training, reporting to oversight committees, monitoring compliance with policy/program requirements, and assisting the VP/Head of Operational and Technology Risk with all aspects of the ORM Program.

This role will also identify, develop, and implement process and system enhancements to continuously improve efficiency and best practices. This role acts as a subject matter expert (SME), representing ORM on a variety of matters including business and/or risk projects or initiatives.

Additionally, this role performs governance and oversight functions of the ORM Program and proactively works with business units to identify and escape risks associated with these programs.

About This Role
Issue Management
  • Collaborate with risk subject matter experts and business partners to coordinate the investigation and resolution of business self-identified issues;
  • Provide issue management support to business partners by ensuring issue summaries and corrective actions are well-written and align with expectations of bank standards;
  • Track and monitor progress to ensure business issues are remediated timely, including target resolution date extension requests and escalating past-due items in Archer;
  • Review and validate Issue Files to ensure customer and control remediations were carried out appropriately; perform Medium and High Risk validation in accordance with the Enterprise Issue Management Program;
  • Participate in the Enterprise Issue Working Group, providing credible challenge on issue risk ratings, characteristics, and remediation plans;
  • Perform omissions testing on rejected investigation items and conduct Archer Open and Closure Validation to ensure data accuracy throughout the issue lifecycle;
  • Prepare reporting and enhance trending and analysis for business partners and management, including Operational Risk Management Committee materials and Quarterly Issue Trend Analysis; respond to ad hoc data requests from testing functions (e.g., Corporate Audit, Examiners, etc.); and
  • Support the ongoing evolution of issue management requirements, procedures, and program documentation.
Program Development, Management and Oversight
  • Facilitate preparation of materials and reporting for the Operational Risk Management Committee, including coordinating agenda items, key risk updates, and program metrics for timely distribution;
  • Support the development, maintenance, and ongoing monitoring of the Operational Risk Management Policy, incorporating regulatory guidance, emerging risks, and industry best practices; and
  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Operational Risk Management governance framework, including procedures, reporting standards, escalation protocols, and committee governance expectations
  • Monitor changes to regulatory requirements, industry trends, and internal program needs to inform enhancements to the ORM Program.
  • Develop, maintain, monitor, and analyze Operational Risk key risk indicators (KRIs) and supporting metrics, including escalation of adverse trends and emerging concerns.
  • Identify, assess, and elevate emerging operational risks, control weaknesses, and trend observations to management and the Operational Risk Management Committee.
Consultation, Analysis and Communication
  • Work collaboratively with SMEs, business unit partners, and oversight committee members and lead discussions of emerging areas of regulator or Chief Risk Officer focus pertaining to Operational Risk;
  • Lead business unit partners, SMEs, and oversight committee member discussions to promote a clear partnership and understanding of program improvements, risks, and expectations; and
  • Responsible for leading initiatives and representing ORM in support of FNNI's ORM function

Required

Compensation

Compensation range (base pay): $81,662.00-$134,741.00

This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.

Work Environment

It is anticipated that the incumbent in this role will work in a hybrid capacity, balancing in-person collaboration three (3) days a week with remote flexibility two (2) days a week.
