Job description

Disney Entertainment (DE) is one of the three major business segments of The Walt Disney Company, consisting of Disney's entertainment media and content businesses, including its motion picture film studios, television networks and studios, direct-to-consumer streaming services, and international businesses.

Job Summary

The Senior Analyst, Content Planning & Analysis will be responsible for analytically evaluating investment and performance of the content on the various Disney Streaming platforms (Disney+, Hulu) and across multiple distribution windows. This role will work on projects involving different content categories and portfolio‑level analyses, content engagement, third‑party licensing deal valuations, distribution and windowing decisions, and executive‑level reporting for senior leaders. The role will also contribute to the development and application of analytical methodologies and KPI tracking for evaluating the performance of content. This position requires a blend of strategic and financial competencies (financial modeling, organized summaries, deck‑building, articulating narratives to stakeholders, etc.), data analytical skills (strong Excel, R, and SQL proficiencies), attention to detail, and a passion for TV and film.

Responsibilities And Duties Of The Role

Create and assemble portfolio level content analyses, models, summaries, data visualizations, and decks using Excel and other data analytical/visualization tools such as R and SQL that create compelling presentations on

  • performance of programming initiatives (including first‑party and third‑party content across various windows) and content trends in major markets;
  • benchmark portfolio performance metrics against investment targets;
  • synthesize insights and recommendations for leadership on content strategy.

Perform title‑level deal valuation modeling/analyses and 3P content performance reports to support content acquisition deals for U.S. and international territories, and seek new ways to further optimize valuation approaches and improve ROI on the acquisitions.

Maintain, update, curate, and automate key content metadata datasets (e.g., attributes, categorization, rights information) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and usability across reporting and analytical systems by leveraging internal databases and advanced data/AI tools.

Develop and support content economics frameworks and financial models that inform content valuation, portfolio optimization, and content strategy by incorporating key revenue, cost, and margin dynamics.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training
  • 4‑year degree in relevant fields (e.g., Statistics, Finance, Economics, Data Science, Business) with strong academic performance.
  • 3+ years of work experience preferably in analytical, finance, or strategy roles or other quantitative fields (internship experience acceptable).
  • Proficiency in R, SQL, and Excel for data analysis, transformation, and modeling.
  • Comfortable working on multiple workstreams concurrently and able to effectively prioritize, communicate progress to project teams, maintain quality of work, and meet deadlines.
  • High aptitude, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for complex problem solving and financial modeling.
  • Ability to bring new perspectives on processes and analytical approaches with the ability to lead small projects with minimal guidance.
  • Strong data and strategic storytelling skills, including the ability to produce executive‑ready presentations and communicate complex analyses to a variety of leaders and stakeholders (e.g., financial, strategic, and/or creative leadership).
  • High EQ, professional maturity, and ability to engage with senior stakeholders with developed opinions.
  • Motivated, proactive, disciplined, flexible, with an enthusiastic and optimistic attitude.
  • Collaborative, coachable team‑player willing to receive and give guidance to peers and new members.
  • Familiarity with basic‑to‑intermediate statistical concepts and analysis techniques.
  • Demonstrated interest in the entertainment and/or tech industries.
Preferred
  • Proven track record of automating recurring analytical or reporting processes.
  • Experience with Python, Tableau, Databricks, or other data analytics tools is a plus.
