Job description

Here at ScottsMiracle-Gro there is no such thing as a typical day. Our culture is constantly energized by new and exciting growth opportunities and at a rapid pace. Below are details on an open job. We’re looking for a Senior Compensation Analyst to join our Compensation team.

In this role, you’ll provide analytical and consultative support across a broad range of compensation programs and decisions, partnering with HR and business leaders across our organization. You’ll play an important role in helping ensure our compensation programs are competitive, equitable, and consistently administered. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys digging into data, solving complex compensation questions, and translating analysis into clear, actionable insights. This role will be hybrid at our WHQ - 2-3 days in office per week.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct market pricing and benchmarking for a variety of roles using external compensation surveys and internal job and organizational data.
  • Perform advanced compensation analyses and modeling to support pay decisions, program design, and business needs.
  • Conduct pay equity, internal equity, and compensation impact analyses, identifying trends, potential issues, and recommended actions.
  • Support complex compensation reviews, including job evaluations, organizational changes, promotions, new or evolving roles, and other pay-related decisions.
  • Partner with HR and business stakeholders to provide compensation analysis, guidance, and recommendations.
  • Support compensation governance processes, audits, and ongoing reviews to promote consistency and compliance with established programs and practices.
  • Maintain and validate compensation data, identifying and resolving data integrity issues.
  • Prepare clear analytical summaries, documentation, and recommendations that translate complex compensation data into meaningful insights.
  • Support compensation projects and initiatives across a diverse, seasonal consumer products business.
  • Serve as a resource to other team members and provide guidance or mentorship to less experienced colleagues as needed.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Compensation, HR analytics, finance, or related experience demonstrating the ability to independently manage complex, non-routine analytical work.
  • Experience with compensation analysis, market benchmarking, job pricing, and data modeling preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, identify issues, and develop practical solutions within established compensation frameworks.
  • Ability to communicate complex compensation concepts and analytical findings clearly to HR and business partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment while independently owning assigned work.
What Will Help You Succeed

You’ll be successful in this role if you bring a combination of analytical rigor, compensation expertise, curiosity, and strong business partnership skills. You’re comfortable working through complex questions where the answer isn’t immediately obvious, can balance market data with internal considerations, and know how to turn detailed analysis into clear recommendations. You’ll also thrive in an environment where business needs and priorities can change quickly, requiring flexibility, sound judgment, and the ability to support a variety of functions and stakeholders.

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $91,100.00 - $107,200.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs. For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
