Genesis Engineering Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Senior Aerospace Buyer to lead complex build-to-print procurements for spaceflight hardware, coordinating with engineering, manufacturing, QA, and program management teams.

You will read mechanical drawings and BOMs, issue RFQs, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS and schedule requirements while maintaining strong supplier relationships and cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or substantial directly relevant experience.
• 5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience, preferably aerospace/high-reliability hardware.
• Experience reading mechanical drawings, BOMs, GD&T, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review BOMs, drawings, specs, and quality clauses; source machined parts, sheet metal components, weldments, and assemblies; issue RFQs and evaluate supplier capability.
• Negotiate price, lead time, tooling/NRE, delivery, and terms; place and manage purchase orders; monitor supplier performance and expediting.
• Maintain Deltek Costpoint records and manage procurement risks; ensure conformance to FAR/DFARS and government contracts; mentor junior buyers.

Job description

The Senior Aerospace Buyer is a key member of the Genesis Engineering Solutions procurement team supporting the design, manufacture, assembly, and test of spaceflight hardware. The position independently manages complex and high-value mechanical build-to-print procurements and works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, program management, finance, NASA GSFC customers, and suppliers to ensure custom hardware is purchased in accordance with technical, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field required; substantial directly relevant experience may be substituted
• Five or more years of progressively responsible purchasing, procurement, or supply-chain experience, preferably supporting aerospace, defense, NASA, or other high-reliability mechanical hardware programs
• Demonstrated experience buying mechanical build-to-print hardware, including machined parts, fabricated parts, sheet-metal components, weldments, and assemblies
• Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, BOMs, specifications, and purchase requisitions, including dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, materials, finishes, and special-process requirements
• Demonstrated experience issuing RFQs, evaluating supplier capability and quotations, negotiating price and delivery, and administering complex purchase orders
• Working knowledge of aerospace material traceability, Certificates of Conformance, material certifications, special-process certifications, First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements, and supplier quality documentation
• Knowledge of FAR/DFARS and government-contract purchasing requirements preferred
• Experience managing long-lead, sole-source, tooling-dependent, and schedule-critical mechanical procurements
• Strong supplier‑management skills, including selecting qualified machine shops and fabricators, expediting work, resolving quality or delivery issues, and monitoring supplier performance
• Strong working knowledge of Excel; experience with Deltek Costpoint or a comparable ERP/procurement system preferred
• Excellent communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work across engineering, quality, manufacturing, program management, finance, and suppliers
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple complex build-to-print procurements, establish priorities, identify procurement risks early, and provide guidance to less‑experienced buyers

Responsibilities:

• Responsibilities include reviewing bills of material (BOMs), engineering drawings, specifications, and quality clauses; sourcing machined parts, sheet‑metal components, weldments, fabricated assemblies, and other custom mechanical hardware; issuing RFQs; evaluating supplier capability and quotations; negotiating price, lead time, tooling/NRE, delivery, and commercial terms; placing and administering purchase orders; managing long‑lead, sole‑source, and schedule‑critical items; verifying material, finish, special‑process, certification, and traceability requirements; monitoring supplier performance and expediting deliveries; resolving receiving and nonconformance issues; managing material budgets and forecasts; maintaining accurate Deltek Costpoint records; reporting procurement risks; improving purchasing processes; and mentoring less‑experienced buyers as needed.
