Job summary

Cooper Standard is seeking a Senior Advanced Process Engineer (Extrusion) to provide technical leadership across global extrusion operations. The role focuses on standardizing processes, improving production performance, quality, energy efficiency, and cost optimization.

You will drive equipment specifications, process parameters, and best practices with manufacturing, engineering, sales, and program management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred in engineering or related field.
• Three plus years of experience in process engineering or extrusion.
• Ability to solve problems and take a new perspective using existing solutions.
• Ability to work independently and act as a resource for colleagues.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with Cooper Standard’s manufacturing facilities to reduce cost and improve quality.
• Advances process and product technology in extrusion.
• Leads research and implementation of new equipment/tooling/processes to satisfy changing production requirements.
• Collaborates with outside machinery suppliers, machine shops, plant engineering and maintenance.
• Assists in validation of new processes and may negotiate approvals or revisions to customer specifications.
• Initiates projects leveraging manufacturing and product knowledge.
• Confirms feasibility/capability of improvements using statistical methods.
• Assists in transfer of product and process between facilities.
• Acts as link between CS technical and manufacturing sites across regions for development and standardization.

Job Description:

The Senior Advanced Process Engineer (Extrusion) is responsible for providing technical leadership and support to Cooper Standard manufacturing facilities in all aspects of extrusion processing and technology. This position drives the standardization and continuous improvement of extrusion processes across product lines, focusing on production performance, process capability, quality, energy efficiency, and cost optimization. Responsibilities include the development and maintenance of global extrusion standards, equipment and tooling specifications, process parameters, and the implementation of best practices throughout Cooper Standard. This role works closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, Finance, Purchasing, and Program Management to support operational excellence, capacity expansion, new product launches, and strategic business objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Works closely with Cooper Standard’s manufacturing facilities to reduce cost, improve quality and

• achieve advancements in both process and product technology

• Leads the research and implementation of new or improved equipment/tooling/processes to satisfy

• changing production requirements. Works with outside machinery suppliers, machine shops, plant

• engineering and maintenance in these efforts

• Assists in the validation of new processes as necessary. May be required to obtain/negotiate approval or

• revisions to customer product specifications

• Initiates projects and tasks through creative insight, leveraging manufacturing and product knowledge

• Confirms feasibility/capability of proposed product/process improvements using statistical methods

• Assists in the transfer of product and process between manufacturing facilities

• For assigned technologies, will act as communicative link between CS technical and manufacturing sites,

• including other global regions, for the purpose of process development, best practice exchange,

• standardization, etc.

• Keeps current on developments related to manufacturing and product technology through meetings

• with suppliers, customers, trade publications, etc.

• May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
• Typically has three plus years of experience
• Ability to solve problems and take a new perspective using existing solutions
• Ability to work independently and act as a resource for colleagues
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Demonstrated proactive task approach
