The Honeywell Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) reduces the risk of controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) by providing flight crews with timely, accurate information about terrain and obstacles in the area. The system uses various aircraft inputs and an internal database, applying proprietary alerting algorithms to predict and warn flight crews of potential conflicts with obstacles or terrain. Additional features include Smart Runway and Smart Landing systems, developed to help flight crews avoid potential runway incursions and excursions.

As a Sr Embedded Software Engineer within Honeywell Communication, Navigation & Surveillance (CN&S), you will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced software solutions for our EGPWS (Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning Systems) product lines. You will work on cutting-edge projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. You will report directly to our Sr Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Deer Valley, Arizona location on a hybrid work schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced embedded software solutions for EGPWS (Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning) systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements.
  • Deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative software solutions for avionics systems.
  • Ensure the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction in software deliverables.
  • Able to independently manage and lead mid-size projects from start to finish.
  • Able to decompose high-level systems requirements into low-level software requirements.
  • Create, maintain and qualify software development and verification tools.
U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • 5+ years of experience in Embedded software development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, etc.
WE VALUE
  • Experience with embedded software and real-time operating systems.
  • Experience in developing software for aerospace or safety-critical systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with real-time systems and embedded software development.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, specifically Git/Bitbucket.
  • Strong understanding of DOORS or similar requirements management system.
  • Strong knowledge of Software lifecycle and Certification aspects of SW components.
  • Able to read and write specifications to create software requirements.
  • Knowledge of advanced algorithms and data analytics is of value.
  • Understanding of RTCA and ARINC industry standards is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
