Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9-6 PM
Summary Description: To perform a wide variety of clerical and customer service duties in support of the Stanton Family Resource Center (FRC) and Community Services Department. This position will act as the Information and Referral Specialist for the FRC, providing registration, information, and referrals to families desiring services pertaining to medical, dental, mental health, housing, nutrition, and other basic services; and performs related work as required.
Essential Functions
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Greets and interviews walk-in and call-in clients seeking community resources; assesses client's immediate needs, provides information regarding service providers, and refers to appropriate resources and/or schedules appointments with Family Support staff.
- Perform a wide variety of highly complex clerical work including the maintenance of accurate and detailed records and files, verifying the accuracy of information, researching discrepancies, and recording information.
- Perform outreach to community organizations and local schools.
- Monitor and coordinate office paper work and activities; conduct a variety of special projects of a routine administrative nature.
- Research and compile information and data for statistical and financial reports; maintain a variety of statistical records; check and tabulate statistical data.
- Operate a variety of office automation equipment including a word processor and computer terminal; input, retrieve and maintain data and text files.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in Spanish as well as English.

- Make sound, independent decisions within established policy and procedural guidelines.
- Perform highly skilled clerical work including maintenance of appropriate records and compiling information for reports.
- Type at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
- Operate modern office equipment including computer equipment and specialized software applications programs.
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Experience/Training/Education
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Two (2) years of professional experience working with at-risk families, public or private social services, human services or educational institutions.
- Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade.
- Fluency in reading, speaking, and writing Spanish is required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATE
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.
Physical Activities And Requirements
- Ability to work in a standard office environment requiring prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, crouching and stooping in the performance of daily activities.
- Movements frequently and regularly require using the wrists, hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment.
- Occasional overtime, weekend and/or evening work may be required.
- Ability to hear and convey detailed or important instructions or information verbally and accurately.
- Average visual acuity to prepare and read documents.
- Ability to communicate with both the public and co-workers in a clear and concise manner.
- Adapt to standard office sounds generated by office equipment as well as standard noise levels resulting from communication with co-workers and the general public.

Below is a list of key benefits offered to employees of the City of Stanton and is only a summary of benefits. They are not intended to replace or modify the legal plan documents on file in the Human Resources Department.
Salary Range: Composed of six (6) steps – Entry step through F step. Each step represents an increase of approximately five (5) percent.
Retirement: Provided through California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS). Employee pays member contribution.
Vacation: Earned at the rate of 96 hours for the first five (5) years of service. Additional vacation may be earned by employees after five (5) years of service.
Sick Leave: Accumulated on the basis of eight (8) hours per month with a maximum accumulation of two hundred and fifty (250).
Holidays: An average of ten (11) holidays per year, plus ten (10) hours floating holiday per year.
Medical Insurance: Several plans available with City contribution toward premium costs.
Dental Insurance: Two (2) plans are available with City contribution toward premium costs.
Vision Insurance: One (1) plan is available with City contribution toward premium costs.
Life Insurance: City paid life insurance ($50,000)
Disability Insurance: City paid Short and Long Term Disability plans
Employee Assistance Program: Available to all City employees and their immediate families.
Deferred Compensation Plan: The City offers one (1) plan administered by MissionSquare Retirement. This is a voluntary benefit with no City contribution.
Work Schedule: 4/10 or alternative work schedule depending upon the work location.
Holiday Closure: December 24 – December 31
