Job summary

Slate is seeking a Sr. ADAS Release Engineer to lead the requirements development and manage Tier 1 suppliers for Front Camera modules across our battery electric vehicles.

You will report to the Manager, Electrical Hardware and Accessories and drive the development of ADAS requirements, lead DFMEA, train technicians, and collaborate with HIL/SIL validation engineers on test plans and cyber-security considerations.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree preferred.
• 5 years relevant experience in ADAS/electrical hardware.
• Hands-on, detail oriented with strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Slate is looking for an energetic, organized, experienced ADAS Release Engineer to join our growing team. Slate is a new US Electric Vehicle company transforming the battery electric vehicle space. Our technology is designed to deliver the most reliable and most efficient low cost-of-ownership electric vehicle on the market.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

The Sr. ADAS Release Engineer will develop the requirements and manage the Tier 1 suppliers for Front Camera module and other features listed in the Program Description Letter.

This Engineer will report to the Manager, Electrical Hardware and Accessories and will be responsible for driving the development of the electrical ADAS requirements for all the Slate battery electric vehicles. The Engineer will be challenged to develop unique solutions for camera systems for a non-traditional vehicle. Responsibilities will be broad in scope and complex requiring creativity, superior initiative, good judgement, and leadership skills. This is a hands on position that will also require leadership of Tier 1 suppliers.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Release the control module(s) Part Numbers in the Product Lifecycle Management system and maintain release levels as the design matures.
• Review hardware design with cross functional teams to ensure the hardware meets requirements.
• Develop and document test plans for the required front camera module.
• Lead DFMEA reviews to identify technical risks and drive the controls logic to improve detection and reduce potential failures of the design
• Train technicians and troubleshooters on the theory of operations and controls logic behind each sub-system and component
• Work with HIL/SIL Validation Engineers to develop test plans to ensure the design meets program requirements. Iterate as issues are uncovered.
• Implement and maintain cyber-security best practices to ensure robust customer and corporation protection over the lifecycle
• Utilize LEAN Engineering methodologies throughout

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics or Computer Software Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program is preferred.
• 5 years relevant experience
• Hands on / detail oriented
• Comfortable working with low voltage and high voltage systems
• Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
• Specific experience including
  • Opened and closed loop control systems for sensors, actuators, body controller, ECUs, etc.
  • Low voltage components such as circuit breakers, relays, wiring, etc.
  • High voltage components such as DCDC, motor and inverter, battery, and on-board charger, etc.
  • CAN-Bus, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocol
  • MATLAB, Simulink, and State flowchart
  • 8D, five whys, and fishbone process to diagnose complex issues
  • Industry standards such as FMVSSS, NHTSA, DOT, NFPA, SAE, NEC, etc.

Salary Range: The compensation for this position is the range Slate reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; work location; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$123,339.00 - $185,009.00 USD Annual

The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in the equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
