Richmond National is seeking a Sr. Actuary to help expand the actuarial department from our Glen Allen, VA office. The role reports to the Chief Actuarial Officer and focuses on pricing, reserving, and automation for Commercial Property with heavy data collaboration across leadership.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in P&C actuarial work, FCAS, and hands-on Python (plus familiarity with R/Java/C). On-site employment with a strong benefits package and bonus eligibility is offered.

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, statistics, or related subjects.
• 7+ years of relevant actuarial experience.
• Prior actuarial experience supporting property lines required.
• FCAS designation.
• Programming experience with Python, R, Java, or C (Python preferred).
• Property & casualty experience required; Excess & surplus lines a plus.
• Excellent time management, organizational skills, and communication.

Job Title: Sr. Actuary

Location: On-site in Glen Allen, VA office

Position Overview

We are now seeking a Sr. Actuary to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in the expansion of the company’s actuarial department.

The Sr. Actuary will report directly to the Chief Actuarial Officer and contribute to a range of business decisions based on actuarial analysis and forecasting to maximize profit and growth. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of P&C actuarial experience with a focus on property lines, hold the FCAS designation, and have experience programming in Python.

Responsibilities

• Ongoing analyses of rates and results, primarily focused on our Commercial Property line of business.


• Pricing and reserving for Commercial Property.

Compensation

At the time of posting, the expected base salary range for this role is $150,000-$170,000 annually. Additionally, this position is eligible for participation in our annual bonus program. Actual compensation will be determined by many factors, including but not limited to, location, education, certifications, qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, business need, and any applicable minimum wage requirements.
