Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and update various actuarial tools that assist in our medical reserving process


• Participate in discussions and assist in the development of monthly medical reserving


• Understand, interpret, and project large sets of medical claims data to help solve business issues


• Provide support to internal business partners (such as finance, underwriting, product, and network) on a range of actuarial issues


• Streamline established processes via MS Office automation or other tools


• Develop standard processes for new work as our team evolves

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics, or related field


• 2+ years of actuarial experience


• On the Actuarial exam track, having passed 2 or more Actuarial exams


• Intermediate or higher level of proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with actuarial models in Excel


• Experience in working with medical claims data, especially at line level detail


• Coding experience, specifically VBA and SQL/SAS coding languages


• Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
