Job summary

Professional Alternatives in NW Houston is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a growing organization and work closely with the Controller on day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, analysis, and process improvement.

This hands-on position emphasizes detailed work while improving processes and systems; NetSuite experience is a strong plus and will involve system optimization, reporting, workflows, and user support as a secondary component.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Experience supporting a Controller, CFO, or senior accounting leadership.
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to analyze data and identify issues for process improvements.
• Attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support the Controller with day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and month-end close.
• Assist with financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and management reporting.
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
• Maintain accurate and timely accounting records across the organization.
• Support process improvements and accounting initiatives.
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPIs for management visibility.
• Partner with operations and leadership on accounting projects and initiatives.
• Serve as a NetSuite user and resource for system optimization, reporting, and training.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes through technology and automation.
• Document processes and help develop scalable accounting procedures.

Senior Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a growing organization and work closely with the Controller on day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, analysis, and process improvement

This is a hands-on accounting role for someone who enjoys being involved in the details while also looking for opportunities to improve processes and systems. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, experience supporting a Controller or senior accounting leader, and the ability to use data and technology to make the accounting function more efficient

NetSuite experience is a strong plus and will provide an opportunity to take ownership of system optimization, reporting, workflows, and user support as a secondary component of the role

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Controller with day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting
• Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and month-end close activities
• Assist with financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and management reporting
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
• Help maintain accurate and timely accounting records across the organization
• Support the Controller with process improvements and accounting initiatives
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPIs to improve visibility for management
