Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our divisional accounting team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing and executing regular accounting processes, supporting month-end close activities, driving process improvements, and participating in various project work related billing and accounts payable. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

- This is a 40-hr/week temporary position that is expected to last for 6 - 12 months. There is an opportunity to be hired as a Gallagher employee depending on performance and business need.
- This is a remote position, although it would be plus to be in the greater Chicago area with the flexibility to come into our Rolling Meadows office for certain events.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Analyze accounts payable coding to ensure consistency between divisions.
- Continuously evaluate and improve accounts payable processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Reconcile carrier statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve carrier payment-related inquiries or issues.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations and 1099 reporting.
- Assist in implementing and improving accounts payable processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assisting in the execution of daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations.
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support month-end (quarter-end, and year-end) close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Working closely with other departments to ensure alignment and support for financial accounting objectives and initiatives.
Required
About You
- Bachelor's degree (Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration) and 5 years of related experience required.
- Requires broad knowledge of accounting practices/principles and preparation of strategic recommendations to management.
- Proficiency in Excel.
