Responsibilities
- Ensure the integrity of the accounting system by preparing period-end adjustments, accruals, and account analyses.
- Prepare journal entries to accurately record transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of quarter forecasts and the annual budget.
- Maintain and manage the accounting system for accurate tracking.
- Reconcile bank statements to ensure accurate cash reporting.
- Support the implementation of the accounting system with third‑party property managers for newly acquired properties.
- Review investor reports on a monthly and quarterly basis, including detailed variance analyses provided by third‑party property managers.
- Perform lease analysis and calculate net rents for accurate financial reporting. Direct and provide support to third‑party property managers on financial and accounting matters.
- Prepare supporting documentation for the company’s income and property tax returns.
- Prepare governmental reports, including TC 201 reporting, in compliance with regulations.
- Maintain and assist with Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance requirements.
- Prepare supporting schedules and communicate with external auditors on a quarterly basis.
- Support property‑specific joint venture and construction audits.
- Stay informed on new accounting pronouncements and industry developments to ensure best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, including real estate and public accounting.
- Skilled at multitasking and handling high volumes of data.
- Detail‑oriented and highly computer literate.
- Strong team player.
- Experience with Yardi (ERP) preferred.
