Kennedy Bond is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager in New York to own core accounting functions and partner with the VP of Finance. The role focuses on the monthly close, accurate financial reporting, and scalable processes in a high-growth healthcare tech environment.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of accounting, strong GAAP knowledge, and experience with NetSuite, journal entries, reconciliations, and audits.

Qualifications

• At least five years of progressive accounting experience.
• Hands-on NetSuite experience is required.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Experience with journal entries, GL management, reconciliations, AP and AR.
• Experience preparing audit schedules and responding to audit requests.

Responsibilities

As the organization enters its next phase of growth, it is building a strong finance function capable of supporting expansion while maintaining accurate reporting, effective controls, and disciplined financial operations.

About the Role

The company is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to work closely with the VP of Finance and take ownership of its core accounting activities.

This individual will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, manage the monthly close, and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. The role will also help improve systems, automate manual workflows, and develop scalable accounting processes as the organization grows.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset. They should be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and operating in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close process and ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with GAAP.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations and maintain the general ledger in NetSuite.
• Oversee accounts payable, employee expenses, and vendor payments using BILL and Ramp.
• Support accounts receivable, including invoicing, billing, and account reconciliation.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules, and analyses for executive leadership and business planning.
• Assist with audit preparation, documentation requests, and the application of relevant accounting guidance.
• Monitor cash activity and communicate anticipated funding needs, payroll obligations, and other significant upcoming payments.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks and improve the efficiency and reliability of accounting workflows.
• Establish processes and controls that can support increasing transaction volume and organizational complexity.
• Collaborate with the VP of Finance and cross-functional stakeholders on evolving business and reporting needs.

Qualifications

• At least five years of progressive accounting experience.
• Hands-on NetSuite experience is required.
• Demonstrated ownership of month-end close within a growing organization.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Experience with journal entries, general ledger management, account reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Experience preparing audit schedules and responding to audit requests.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and take full ownership of deliverables.
• Proactive communication and sound judgment when identifying and resolving issues.

Preferred Experience

• CPA designation or previous public accounting experience.
• Experience within healthcare, health technology, life sciences, biotechnology, or another innovation-driven industry.
• Familiarity with BILL, Ramp, or comparable payment and expense-management systems.
• Experience improving financial systems, implementing controls, or automating accounting processes.
• Previous experience working within a startup or high-growth company.
