Job summary

Calance is seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator in San Diego, CA to administer MS SQL databases, develop reporting capabilities, and ensure high availability. The role covers performance tuning, backups, patching, and collaboration with business units to deliver accurate, timely reports via various interfaces and tools. Responsibilities

• Administer and manage Microsoft SQL databases and related software applications.
• Develop and enhance reporting infrastructure to deliver custom and ad hoc reports.
• Tune database performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents.
• Install, patch, and upgrade SQL Server instances and implement best practices.
• Provide consulting, interfacing, and user training on information systems.
• Collaborate with business users to define reporting requirements and build solutions.
• Handle data import/export and data backups across different software programs.
• Test software enhancements prior to production releases.
• Develop and maintain intranet software supporting internal processes.
• Review database design and integration to identify improvements.
• Establish procedures and standards for database management and monitoring.
• Monitor SLA adherence and resolve incidents within agreed timeframes.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Respond to database monitoring alerts and escalate where necessary.
