Job summary

Ampcus Inc. is seeking an experienced Database Administrator 2 to support a migration from an end-of-life hosted platform to a new hosted platform in Richmond, VA. You will manage SQL Server environments, perform migrations, and ensure post‑migration validation.

The role covers backup/recovery, incident response, performance tuning, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams to maintain production stability. Oracle experience is beneficial but not required.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on SQL Server administration experience.
• Experience migrating databases between hosted platforms and environments.
• Post-migration validation and troubleshooting skills.
• Understanding of SQL Server architecture, configuration, and recovery.
• Backup, restore, and recovery management experience.
• Experience with multiple SQL Server versions (2008–2019).
• Ability to support Oracle databases as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support migration of existing SQL Server databases to a new hosted platform.
• Perform migration, validation, and post-migration testing.
• Provide day-to-day break/fix and incident response for SQL Server.
• Manage databases across SQL Server versions 2008–2019.
• Handle backup, recovery, configuration, and performance troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and project teams.
• Document changes and operational procedures.
• Provide support for a small Oracle footprint as needed.
