About Civica:

Critical shortages of essential generic injectable drugs are an ongoing crisis in U.S. healthcare, reaching an all-time high with over 300 essential medications reported in shortage, according to industry and FDA reports.

Shortages pose risks to patients and lead to resource waste in hospitals.

Civica, a market-based nonprofit founded in 2018 by health systems and philanthropies, aims to prevent and mitigate drug shortages. Nearly 60 health systems, representing over 1,400 hospitals and about one-third of U.S. hospital beds, have joined Civica. The organization supplies medicines to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, and the Strategic National Stockpile, operating in 49 states.

The mission has expanded to CivicaScript, which provides affordable outpatient generic medicines through partnerships with manufacturers, payors, PBMs, and pharmacies to pass savings to consumers.

Its new 140,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Virginia will produce sterile injectables in shortage and biosimilar insulins to ensure affordable access for all Americans.

Position Summary

We are seeking an ETL Developer to automate data ingestion and transformation for our enterprise data warehouse (EDW). The position is remote, based in Lehi, UT, or Petersburg, VA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Build data systems and pipelines: Design and document ETL requirements, primarily using SQL, to ensure accurate data in the EDW. Strong SQL expertise is mandatory. Python and JSON knowledge are advantageous. Provide production support for dataset stability and accuracy.
• Agile work environment: Participate in monthly sprints, delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced setting, adhering to work plans with minimal supervision.
• EDW Management: Oversee EDW architecture, enhance performance, establish data standards, develop automated data quality monitoring, manage user permissions, and lead backup and recovery procedures.
• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to enhancing data infrastructure, improve data accuracy and trustworthiness, and identify automation opportunities to scale and reduce costs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 2 years of professional SQL experience and 1 year of ETL development.
• Proven ability to deliver accurate, timely work.
• Expertise in SQL (CTEs, stored procedures, views, functions).
• Strong problem-solving skills with minimal guidance.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Meticulous attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Clear and concise documentation skills.
• Collaborative spirit with transparent communication.
• Bachelor’s degree in analytics, mathematics, CS, engineering, business, or related field.
• Healthcare or pharma domain experience is a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
