Job summary

Leidos in Reston, Virginia seeks a SQL Engineer to support a high-visibility, data-driven application powering analytics and reporting across the organization. You will write complex queries, shape data for dashboards, ensure data accuracy, and deliver reliable datasets used daily by stakeholders.

You’ll work closely with dashboard developers and application teams to provide clean, consistent data for mission users, expanding expertise in large-scale data systems and advanced SQL engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field with 4-8 years of experience; or Master’s with 2-6 years
• US Citizenship required
• Active TS/SCI with ability to successfully pass a Polygraph
• Strong SQL skills, including advanced queries (joins, aggregations, subqueries, window functions)
• Experience with enterprise relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, etc.)
• Background supporting analytics, dashboards, or reporting pipelines
• Comfortable working in Linux-based environments
• Proven ability to work independently on data-centric tasks and ensure data quality

Responsibilities

• SQL Development: Write complex SQL queries involving joins, aggregations, filtering, subqueries, and window functions to support dashboards
• Data Shaping for Visualization: Structure query outputs in a way that is optimized for dashboard consumption
• Dashboard Support: Partner with dashboard developers to define and deliver the data required for visualizations and reporting
• Data Validation: Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of datasets used in dashboards
• Query Performance: Identify inefficient queries and make basic improvements to support responsive dashboards
• Requirements Translation: Translate dashboard and reporting requirements into effective SQL queries
