Job summary

Enspire Partners is seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to support multiple client environments in a fast-paced managed services setting. You will own production outcomes, diagnose and resolve issues, and guide stakeholders while performing hands-on administration of SQL Server.

The role requires 8+ years of production SQL Server experience, strong communication, and the ability to work across multiple client environments with minimal supervision.

Our Client is seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to support multiple client environments within a fast‑paced managed services organization. This role is ideal for an experienced SQL Server professional who thrives in high‑stakes production settings, can switch contexts quickly, and consistently delivers stable, high‑performing database systems. You’ll serve as a trusted technical authority—owning production outcomes, guiding stakeholders, and executing hands‑on work with confidence and clarity.

What You’ll Do:

• Maintain the health, performance, and availability of diverse SQL Server environments.
• Lead complex, urgent issues from diagnosis through resolution and post‑incident review.
• Assess database requests for safety, performance impact, and business value; recommend better alternatives when needed.
• Architect SQL Server solutions that balance reliability, performance, and long‑term maintainability.
• Resolve blocking, deadlocks, resource contention, data growth, and performance degradation.
• Plan for growth, storage, and lifecycle changes across environments.
• Create and refine operational procedures and best practices.
• Ensure backup strategies, restore processes, and disaster recovery expectations are clearly defined and consistently met.
• Coordinate and execute patching, maintenance, and upgrades with application and infrastructure teams.
• Participate in technical discussions, escalations, and cross‑team collaboration.
• Participate in on‑call and after‑hours support for production systems.

SQL Server–Focused Responsibilities:

• SQL Server Administration across dev, test, and production environments
• Install, configure, upgrade, and patch SQL Server instances
• Diagnose performance issues using wait stats, execution plans, index analysis, and memory/IO diagnostics
• Manage Availability Groups,clustering, and other HA/DR technologies
• Implement and maintain database security (logins, roles, permissions, encryption, auditing)
• Oversee backups, integrity checks, index maintenance, and other core maintenance strategies
• Perform restores, data refreshes, and environment cloning

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years administering production SQL Server environments
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal direction
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience supporting business‑critical production systems
• Comfortable working in a managed services or consulting model supporting multiple clients

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SQL Server in cloud or hybrid environments (Azure, AWS, OCI)
• Hands‑on experience with Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and encryption
• Microsoft SQL Server certifications
• Experience supporting complex ERP or line‑of‑business applications
• Familiarity with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or similar ERP systems (nice to have)
