Role Title: SQL Database Administrator

Duration: 1 year contract, potential hire / potential extension

Preferred Location: Remote (EST/CST timezone)

Role Description:

Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases (approximately 70% of workload)

Provide support for legacy Oracle environments (versions up to Oracle 12i; approx. 30% of workload)

Participate in an on-call rotation (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off), covering after-hours and weekend support

Perform bi-monthly Saturday night maintenance (8:00 PM-12:00 AM ET)

Monitor system performance, perform tuning, and support high availability environments

Implement and maintain SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and other HA/DR solutions

Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and project teams to ensure database performance and reliability

Potential involvement in next year's SAP S/4HANA project, providing database support during integration and deployment phases

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a SQL DBA in a production environment
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, including backup/recovery, performance tuning, and security
• Experience working with Oracle databases, preferably legacy versions (up to 12i)
• Familiarity with SQL Server Always On and other high-availability features
• Comfortable with after-hours and weekend support responsibilities
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
