Position Overview
The Department of Agriculture is seeking to hire a Senior Public Service Administrator. This position serves as the Bureau Chief in the Bureau of Meat and Poultry Inspection working out of the Springfield Office. The successful candidate will oversee the Bureau which employs Meat and Poultry Inspectors, Trainees and their Supervisors who are essential employees on the front lines of protecting our food production system. The Illinois Department of Agriculture administers an annual budget of approximately $200 million and employs more than 400 people statewide, with several hundred more seasonal employees hired during the summer to support the Illinois State Fair and Du Quoin State Fair. Term Appointment: Candidates hired into a term position shall be appointed for a term of 4 years and are subject to a probationary period. The term may be renewed for successive four-year terms at the Director of the Department of Agriculture’s discretion.
