Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) seeks a Principal Engineer to lead SPS innovation, market alignment, and product strategy from Boise, ID or Pullman, WA.

You will unify customer needs with engineering and marketing to craft differentiated protection solutions and drive long-term growth. You will mentor engineers, present technical content, and collaborate across R&D, product management, and field teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or applicable discipline is required.
• 15+ years working knowledge and experience of electric power systems or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in SPS with adjacent technologies, products, and market segments.
• Willingness to travel per business need.
• Excellent technical training, speaking, writing, and customer service skills.
• Background check results satisfactory to SEL and negative drug test.

Responsibilities

• Lead the discovery, development, evaluation, and advancement of SPS ideas, technologies, and growth initiatives.
• Act as a strategic bridge between customers, Marketing, Product Management, Sales & Customer Service, Engineering Services, and R&D.
• Translate market opportunities into product requirements and development initiatives with cross-functional teams.
• Influence product strategy, roadmaps, and narratives to support business growth and customer success.
