Job summary

Lake Region Healthcare in Elbow Lake, MN, seeks a Paramedic for a grant-funded role through June 30, 2027. The position involves on-site emergency medical care, rapid assessment, stabilization, and transport coordination for patients at the Elbow Lake Medical Center.

Relevant EMS certifications are required with preferred advanced credentials. Responsibilities include on-site treatments, equipment operation, documentation, and participation in community outreach and training activities.

Qualifications

• State certification as Paramedic.
• Experience as EMT-Paramedic required.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS Certification required.
• Community Paramedic Certification preferred.
• Critical Care Certificate preferred.
• Nationally Registered Paramedic preferred but not required.
• Must recognize changes in patient condition and report to physician/RN.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and provide on-site medical assistance.
• Assess patients' conditions, vital signs, and decide course of action.
• Administer CPR, oxygen, medications, and wound care.
• Stabilize patients and prepare for transport to hospitals.
• Operate and maintain defibrillators, ventilators, and IV lines.
• Communicate updates to doctors and nurses with patient status.
• Document all procedures accurately and timely.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Attend ongoing training, e.g., paramedic or critical care certs.
• Adhere to protocols, ethics, and legal requirements.
• Attend community events for on-site medical care and outreach.
• Participate in quality improvement activities for ambulance services.

Position Type: 48 Hour Biweekly

Salary Range: $26.89 - $36.16 Hourly

Please note that this is a grant funded position with funding through June 30, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Responding to emergency calls and providing on-site medical assistance.
• Assessing patients' conditions, including vital signs, and making quick decisions on the appropriate course of action.
• Administering necessary medical treatments, such as CPR, oxygen, medications, and wound care.
• Stabilizing injured or critically ill patients and preparing them for transportation to hospitals or other medical facilities.
• Operating and maintaining medical equipment, such as defibrillators, ventilators, and intravenous lines.
• Communicating with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors and nurses, to provide updates on patients' conditions and receive further instructions.
• Documenting all medical procedures, treatments, and observations accurately and in a timely manner.
• Providing emotional support to patients and their families during traumatic situations.
• Participating in ongoing training and continuing education to stay updated on the latest medical techniques and procedures. (ie., community paramedic certification, critical care certification, or others as applicable)
• Adhering to medical protocols, ethical standards, and legal requirements in the provision of emergency medical care.
• Attend Community events to provide onsite medical care and first-aid support, enhancing community outreach.
• Quality improvement or management activities for ambulance services in our PSA.
• Attend local fire meetings and trainings to help with community education and outreach.
• Providing education and mentorship opportunities to area students or others interested in joining Emergency Medicine.

Hours/Shifts

48 hours biweekly, Day/PM 12 hour shifts, every third weekend.

Compensation

Hourly wage range: $26.89-$36.16/hour. Please note that final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations.
