Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a Sprinkler Service Technician in Nashville, TN to respond to service calls, diagnose equipment and repair sprinkler and fire suppression systems across commercial, industrial, and residential sites.

You will read blueprints, follow safety procedures, communicate with customers to ensure satisfaction, and participate in an on-call rotation while maintaining accurate service documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Capability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
• Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, and working in ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
• Willingness to travel overnight as required.
• Strong customer service skills and a professional customer-first attitude.
• Ability to maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
• Commitment to following safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
• Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.
• Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center and review the reported equipment or system malfunction.
• Contact the customer representative to understand the problem and confirm site details.
• Perform service and repairs on sprinkler systems, including wet systems in steel, copper, and CPVC, as well as dry, pre-action, deluge, and fire pump systems.
• Follow troubleshooting procedures and use technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, and modification notices to diagnose and repair equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics, software and system information, and operational product manuals.
• Communicate effectively with district staff and customers to support complete customer satisfaction.
• Complete Service Acknowledgements electronically with accurate coding and obtain the customer signature.
• Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation and support customer needs as required.
• Maintain truck inventory and tools to help ensure timely response to service requests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Overview As a Sprinkler Service Technician, you will respond to service calls, diagnose equipment and system issues, and perform service and repairs on sprinkler and fire suppression systems across commercial, industrial, and residential applications. Work as one team with the Service Resource Center, district staff, and customers to deliver a smooth and professional experience. Document work accurately, follow procedures consistently, and keep learning from each job to improve every day.

Nice to Have

• 3+ years of documented experience in the Fire Sprinkler/Suppression industry.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational or product manuals.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $29-$40 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
