Job description

SPRINKLER SERVICE FITTER TECHNICIAN

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Diagnose fire sprinkler system performance through observation, testing, and setup.
  • Disassemble and reassemble sprinkler systems for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment to service systems.
  • Complete work orders, task lists, and documentation to verify work performed, ensuring compliance with customer invoicing requirements.
  • Document invoicing data based on hours worked and materials used.
  • Explain service charges and work performed to customers satisfactorily.
  • Reconcile work order documents, vendor packing slips, and weekly timesheets for supervisor review.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Prioritize safety in all activities.
  1. Ensure timely submission of JSAs, Toolbox Talks, Audit Forms, etc.
  2. Report incidents and accidents promptly and accurately.
  3. Take accountability for safety initiatives and safe driving.
  4. Support and adhere to Stop Work Authority policies.
  • Complete all training requirements, including safety and certifications.
  • Submit accurate timesheets on time, supporting transition to electronic submissions.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and professional documentation with signatures.
  • Manage inventory properly, including reviewing and approving packing slips.
  • Maintain and care for equipment and tools.
  • Keep jobsites clean and organized.
  • Ensure production efficiency and communicate proactively about budget vs. actual labor hours.
  • Support adherence to company SOPs for purchase and change orders.
  • Be punctual, attend meetings, and communicate effectively with supervisors and customers.
  • Respond to customer feedback and maintain quality control to reduce return trips and warranty work.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive interactions within the team.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and be willing to work overtime, out of town, or on-call as needed.

Knowledge:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • Ability to maintain ongoing education, licenses, and certifications as required.
  • Demonstrated diagnostic skills through experience or training.

Work Experience:

  • At least five (5) years of relevant service experience on wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Accurate documentation skills using electronic devices.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to operate commercial motor vehicles safely.
  • Proficiency with gauges, meters, hand and power tools, and schematic reading.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Good math, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic to moderate computer skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to follow instructions, perform varied duties, and work within precise standards.
