Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Denver, CO is seeking a detail-oriented Sprinkler Inspector to perform building sprinkler inspections, test panels and devices, and generate accurate reports. You will support the Lead Inspector and Inspection Manager by collecting data and preparing paperwork with strong customer service and teamwork.

Proficiency with Palm devices and PC tools is expected. The role requires NICET Level 2 in Water Based System Inspections, CSA Sprinkler certification, and a High

  • CSA Sprinkler certification and NICET Level 2 in Water Based System Inspections.
  • Learn NFPA standards for inspection/testing of fire protection systems and stay current.
  • Reliable transportation to office or site and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform building sprinkler inspections, test devices, record results, and generate reports.
  • Assist Lead Inspector/Inspection Manager with data collection and paperwork.
  • Test sprinkler control panels and devices and log results in Palm handheld.
  • Generate Sprinkler Inspection Reports upon completion of inspections.
  • Communicate clearly, work well in a team, and be punctual.
  • Operate test equipment (meters, battery analyzers, sound meters) and PC tools.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings and fulfill other duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for performing building sprinkler inspections including testing devices, recording and generating results, and providing reports. Duties include assisting both the Lead Inspector and/or Inspection Manager in collecting data and generating any necessary paperwork (Sprinkler Inspection Reports, Quick Reports, and Inspection Certificates).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all inspections are completed on a timely basis and that inspections are done accurately and thoroughly.

  • Testing of all building sprinkler control panels, devices, and functions of the sprinkler system and entering the test results into the Palm handheld device.

  • Upon completion of an inspection download the information and generate a completed Sprinkler Inspection Report.

  • Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and be customer service oriented.

  • Must be able and willing to work within a team environment.

  • Must be punctual. Being on time is critical due to the need to perform sound tests prior to building tenant arrivals.

  • Proficiency in using test equipment including sensitivity test equipment, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communicating devices.

  • Need good networking PC skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, use of Palm unit, and use ofService Tradeoperating systems.

  • Participate in monthly team meetings.

  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education/Qualification
  • High School diploma or equivalent is acceptable with acceptable experience.

  • CSA Sprinkler required and NICET Level 2 in Water Based System Inspections required.

  • Study and learn NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems. Stay current with code requirements, and industry changes, and obtain NICET certifications

  • Reliable transportation to and from the office or job site.

  • Clean motor vehicle record in order to operate company provided vehicle.

Other Duties
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
  • Industrial, Commercial, & Residential building environment with moderate to high noise levels, and comfort with working at heights

  • Mostly a physically demanding role. Most of the daily demand is standing and walking stairs and climbing ladders.

  • May need to lift objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to be on the phone and computer consistently throughout the day.

Pay Range
  • $38.00 - $40.00 /hour DOE
