Job summary

The Kirtland Local School District is seeking a Weight Room Supervisor for the Spring Season to oversee daily operations of the school’s strength and conditioning facility.

The role emphasizes safety, proper equipment use, and professional conduct, with supervision of students and coordination with the Athletic Director and building staff. Salary is paid per session and aligns with district policies.

Qualifications

• License appropriate for the assignment.
• Evidence of a clear record as determined by BCII and FBI.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
• Meets all prerequisite qualifications to be bonded.
• Supervisor must NOT be a paid coach who is in season.

Responsibilities

• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Supervises Kirtland's strength training facilities.
• Supervises students using campus facilities to ensure their safety.
• Organizes and cleans the facility. Remove weights from floor and bars at end of sessions.
• Promotes a favorable image of the school district. Encourages community partnerships that enhance district programs.
• Works with the Athletic Director to evaluate program needs.
• Provides technical expertise in the coaching of team members.
• Promotes proper use and care of school property.
• Reviews procedures and schedules before the start of the season.
• Helps develop a unified program and schedule for groups and teams.
• Attends all mandatory programs (e.g., first aid training).
• Anticipates potential risks of injury and takes measures to remove them.
• Provides courteous service to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors entering the facility.
• Respects personal privacy. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information.
• Avoids public criticism of training methods used by others.
• Documents injuries that require medical attention.
• Provides guidance, communicates high expectations, and shows active interest in student progress.
• Maintains high standards and upholds the student conduct code.
• Reports student discipline problems, vandalism, and related concerns.
• Ensures students keep the weight room orderly.
• Obtains permission to be away when duties conflict with other assigned duties.
• Supervise while using the weight room and ensures building is secured.
• Watches for behavior indicators of problems and intervenes or reports concerns.
• Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
• Monitors innovations, evaluates activities, and recommends program improvements.
• Accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
• Strives to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model.
• Performs other job-related duties as directed.
