GE Vernova, through GE Gas Power, offers an internship for students to contribute to advanced investment casting and quality improvement. You will gain hands-on experience on the shop floor, supporting BIQ, defect tracking, and real-time problem solving, while learning from experienced engineers.

This role emphasizes collaboration, data analytics, and the Zero Defect Framework, with exposure to inspection tech and QMS documentation.

Formación

• Currently enrolled in undergrad or graduate degree.
• Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Industrial/Engineering Management, Data Analytics or related field.
• Demonstrated academic achievement and interest in process improvement, technical problem solving and supply chain experience.
• Ability to work in a team environment (in-person), communicate clearly, and follow through on commitments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Legal authorization to work in the country where the internship is based, as required by local law and program guidelines.

Responsabilidades

• Work with Quality, Process, and Product engineers on trials and equipment qualifications.
• Own AI and Digitization efforts in creating part and trial tracking tools, as well as SPC capture and visualization.
• Learn inspection technologies such as Borescope and some Non-Destructive Testing processes and reviews.
• Facilitate QMS adherence through quality document creation, maintenance, and tracking.
• Participate in Lean activities to execute shop floor flow and process improvement initiatives.

What impact you’ll make

As a student of the Schenectady Cores and Castings Team you will be an active contributor to the acceleration of advanced investment casting production and new product casting development. We manufacture the most advanced technology within GE Vernova’s highly efficient gas turbine fleet; and as a member of the Quality team within the factory you will gain hands-on experience in implementing our Zero Defect Framework to meet rapidly increasing industry demands.

Job Description

What you’ll do (Job Responsibilities)

• Support advancing our Built in Quality (BIQ) framework on the shop floor to introduce improved daily defect tracking and reduction along with real-time daily problem solving for all product and process issues that arise.
• Assist in visual management projects including Material Review Board (MRB) layout and tracking, Non-Conformance identification, Scrap containment, and Shipping submission and flow.
• Work with other Quality, Process, and Product engineers in implementing and tracking trials on process improvement projects as well as new equipment installations and qualifications.
• Own AI and Digitization efforts in creating part and trial tracking tools, as well as yield and Statistical Process Control (SPC) capture and visualization.
• Learn specific inspection technologies such as Borescope and some Non-Destructive Testing processes and reviews to assess product quality and make decisions, with some lab exposure to destructive testing.
• Facilitate Quality Management System (QMS) adherence through quality document creation, maintenance, and tracking.
• Participate in Lean activities to execute shop floor flow and process improvement initiatives identified by factory leadership.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

• Current enrollment in undergrad or graduate degree.
• Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Industrial/Engineering Management, Data Analytics or related field of study
• Demonstrated academic achievement and interest in process improvement, technical problem solving and supply chain experience.
• Ability to work in a team environment (in-person), communicate clearly, and follow through on commitments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint.
