Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks Software Engineers for a 2027 spring Co-op in Mission Systems at McClellan, CA. You will design, develop, and integrate software for navigation and mission‑planning, writing C/C++ and Python for embedded/RT platforms, and participating in CI-driven testing and code reviews.

You must be enrolled full‑time in CS/engineering, be able to work 40 hours/week for at least 10 weeks, and obtain U.S. government clearance as required.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full-time in Fall 2027 as an undergraduate or graduate student.
• Major in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
• Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for at least 10 weeks in Spring 2027.
• Able to obtain/maintain U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior software engineers to design, develop, and integrate software for navigation and planning systems.
• Write clean C/C++ and Python code for embedded and real-time platforms.
• Perform unit, integration, and system testing with automated frameworks and CI pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve quality.
• Document design decisions, APIs, and operational procedures for internal use.
• Troubleshoot and profile flight-critical software to meet safety and latency needs.
• Contribute to safety-critical certification artifacts (e.g., DO-178C).
• Work in Agile Scrum teams and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
