Job summary

Northrop Grumman invites students for a Spring 2027 Co‑op in our Mission Systems group in McClellan, CA. You will collaborate with senior engineers to build navigation and mission-planning software using C/C++ and Python on embedded and real-time platforms.

You will contribute to unit and integration testing, participate in code reviews, and help document API decisions while working within an Agile Scrum framework. A U.S. Government clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled full-time in Fall 2027 (undergrad or grad).
• Majoring in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related STEM field.
• Available to work full-time for at least 10 weeks during spring 2027.
• Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior software engineers to design, develop, and integrate software for navigation and mission-planning systems.
• Write clean, maintainable C/C++ and Python code for embedded and real-time platforms.
• Perform unit, integration, and system-level testing with automated frameworks and CI pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve quality and reliability.
• Document design decisions, APIs, and procedures for internal use and audits.
• Assist in troubleshooting and performance profiling of flight-critical software.
• Contribute to safety-critical certification artifacts (e.g., DO-178C).
• Work in Agile Scrum teams and participate in sprint ceremonies.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end mission support.
• Explore emerging technologies to enhance navigation accuracy and resilience.
