Job summary

Tampa Electric Co. offers an opportunity for college students or recent graduates to explore careers in Transmission Engineering. This role allows applying academic knowledge, gaining career skills, building resumes, and networking with emergency management professionals.

Design, develop, and support transmission lines, while participating in trainings and collaborating with TE teams. In-office co-op with part-time hours preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited university/college program in a related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
  • To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program is a must.
  • To qualify for a substation engineering co-op position, must have completed junior year at an ABET institution.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering; Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical preferred.

Position Summary/Details

Tampa Electric is wishing to provide an opportunity for college students or recent graduates the opportunity to explore career options within the field of Transmission Engineering. This includes allowing students to apply academic knowledge, skills, gain career skills, build resumes, and network with emergency management professionals.

Accountabilities
  • Design and develop new and existing transmission lines throughout the TECO service area.
  • Participate in meetings with internal and external departments/vendors
  • Attend trainings related to engineering, safety, and leadership
  • Support the TE team when needed

Physical Location of Co-op: TECO Eastern Service Area BLDG A

Working Conditions: In-office

Preferred Availability: Part – Time (20-40 hours)

Education/Certification/GPA
  • The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university or college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
  • To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program is a must.
  • To qualify for a substation engineering co-op position, the candidate must have successfully completed their junior year at an ABET accredited Institution.
