Job summary

Tampa Electric offers a TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program to college students pursuing engineering, business, economics, computer science or IT. The role focuses on data gathering, project coordination, and data-driven decision making in a team environment.

As a co-op or intern, you will work part-time (30–40 hours) in the Eastern Service Area, with opportunities for growth, training and exposure to real-world energy projects within a major utility company.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a university degree program (undergraduate or graduate) related to the field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
• Valid Driver’s License

The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.

Position Summary/Details

Responsibilities include gathering and compiling asset data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness for analysis. Additionally, responsibilities include coordinating project timelines, analyzing data to drive strategic decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success by leveraging data insights for actionable results.

Accountabilities

• Support the Electrical System Reliability (ESR) team with developing, maintaining, modifying asset monitoring plan databases, and maintenance strategies.
• Support the NERC Compliance team with updates, reviews and coordinating various deliverables and activities with Operating areas.
• Support the development project plans, roadmaps and process flows.
• Support the ESR team with various administrative activities including work management, and procurement.
• Support the ESR team with the development and execution of process improvement initiatives using software tools.

Physical Location of Co-op: Eastern Service Area (ECC) 820 S 78th St, Tampa, Florida 33619

Working Conditions: Mostly in a normal office environment, a successful candidate will visit the field approximately weekly. This will include riding in a company vehicle on-road and off-road, walking on uneven surfaces, and entering substations.

Preferred Availability: Part - Time (30 - 40 hours)

Qualifications

Education:

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements

• To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
• Valid Driver’s License

Degree:

Currently pursuing one of the following: Engineering, Business, Economics, Computer Science, IT or related.
