Job summary

Kentucky Educational Television (KET) in Lexington offers a Spring 2026 Television Production Internship (O. Leonard Press Public Affairs Internship) giving motivated students hands-on experience in production, communications and journalism.

This paid internship provides hourly wages and up to two stipends for meeting performance markers. Interns will gain exposure to video, audio, editing, graphics, and production activities on programs like Comment on Kentucky and Kentucky Tonight, with

Qualifications

• Students must be currently pursuing a degree in a related field at the time of application and during the internship.
• Students must have completed at least 24 academic credit hours or equivalent and be in good academic standing.
• Must have strong computer, writing and communication skills with coursework or interest in Public Media, Journalism, Civics, or Politics.
• Must commit to at least 120 hours during one semester and have the flexibility to work evening hours.
• May require job-related travel including overnight stays; sitting and/or standing/walking for long periods; handling of average-weight objects up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in camera operation in the field and in the studio.
• Assist audio technicians in the field and in the studio.
• Assist in editing footage.
• Assist in creating graphics for programs.
• Assist with on-air promotion production; running teleprompter; logging and transcribing video and interviews.
• Research content, legislation, and other information; scheduling and providing hospitality for guests appearing on programs; assisting producers and associate producers.
• Support in all areas of production in Frankfort and Lexington.

Come intern for Kentucky Educational Television, (KET), one of the largest and most respected statewide public broadcasting networks in the nation.

The Television Production Internship (O. Leonard Press Public Affairs Internship) offers motivated college students an exceptional opportunity to gain skills and practical work experience in production, communications, and journalism. paid internship includes an hourly wage plus the opportunity to earn two stipends during the semester for achieving certain performance markers.

LOCATION:

Student(s) selected will work at the Lexington, Kentucky Network Center at 600 Cooper Drive.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Whileworking on programs like Comment on Kentucky, Kentucky Tonight, Kentucky Edition, News Quiz, and legislative coverage, students have the opportunity to gain experience in areas such as:

• Video—Assisting in camera operation in the field and in the studio
