Job summary

VHC Health is offering a Spring 2027 New Graduate Nurse Residency for the 4A Surgical unit in Arlington, VA. The program provides structured preceptorships, monthly cohorts, and leadership development to support new graduates transitioning to professional practice.

As a participating nurse resident, you will gain hands-on experience, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice skills under experienced preceptors and nursing leaders.

Qualifications

• Associate’s in Nursing required or Bachelor’s in Nursing required.
• New Graduate: One year of Nursing/Patient Care in an acute care setting.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions required or Compact State Licensure in Nursing.
• BLS certification required.
• New to practice area nurses have 1 year to complete specialty requirements (ACLS, PALS, NRP, de-escalation training) per policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect total nursing care for assigned patients and supervise staff.
• Adhere to department and hospital policies and procedures; communicate effectively in written, auditory, and visual forms.
• Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing professional development.
