Job summary

The ACLU of Oklahoma seeks a Legal Intern. This remote-optional internship can be full- or part-time with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week, based in Oklahoma City. It is open to all law students who will have completed their 1L year.

Compensation is $15 per hour for a maximum of 20 hours a week. Priority consideration will be given to applications by September 7, 2026, with rolling review and potential hire of two interns.

Qualifications

• Open to all law students who will have completed their 1L year.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Proficiency with civil rights issues is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal and factual research and produce memoranda.
• Draft and submit open records requests and review produced public records.
• Draft and edit motions, pleadings, and other filings.
• Attend staff and litigation team meetings.
• Attend court hearings and public meetings; assist with litigation tasks.

Job description

The ACLU of Oklahoma seeks a Legal Intern. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the breadth of the ACLU’s work, to understand the issues facing Oklahomans, and to practice skills like legal research and writing and crafting litigation strategy. This internship can be full- or part-time with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week. It is a remote optional position based in Oklahoma City. It is open to all law students who will have completed their 1L year. Compensation for this position is $15 an hour for a maximum of 20 hours a week.

Priority consideration will be given to candidates who apply by September 7, 2026, but we will review applications on a rolling basis and may fill the position before then. We hope to hire two interns.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Attend staff and litigation team meetings;
• Attend court hearings and public meetings; and
• Other tasks assisting with litigation as necessary.

• Excellent organization and writing skills; and
• Proficiency in SharePoint, Microsoft Office, and Westlaw.
