Remote-Optional Civil Rights Legal Internship – Summer

Job summary

The ACLU of Oklahoma invites applications for a 2027 Summer Legal Internship. Based in Oklahoma with remote optional work, the role supports legal research, writing, and litigation strategy development. The internship requires 1L law students and a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week at $15 per hour, for up to 20 hours weekly.

Priority is given to applications received by November 2, 2026, with rolling reviews potentially filling the position earlier. Two interns are expected to be hired.

Qualifications

• Understanding of the Constitution and civil rights issues
• Commitment to civil rights work of the ACLU
• Excellent organization and writing skills
• Proficiency in SharePoint, Microsoft Office, and Westlaw

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal and factual research and produce memoranda
• Draft and submit open records requests and review produced public records
• Draft and edit demand letters, motions, and other filings
• Attend staff and litigation team meetings
• Attend court hearings and public meetings; and
• Assist with litigation as necessary
