Job summary

The Whitney Museum of American Art invites rising juniors and above to apply for its spring 2027 Academic Year Internship in communications. The paid, on-site internship runs January 18 to April 26, 2027, with a commitment of 16–21 hours weekly for 176 hours, assigned to a specific department for the duration.

Interns will assist with exhibition and press event prep, monitor media coverage, maintain the press database in Raiser's Edge, and promote public programs through calendar listings.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail.
• Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
• Interest in public relations and communications, as well as art.
• Computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Google Drive, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation for Whitney exhibitions and press events, including research for targeted press outreach and organizing press materials.
• Monitor and track media coverage of the museum and its programs.
• Contribute to weekly press highlights reporting and collect press quotes for reports.
• Maintain press database in Raiser's Edge.
• Assist with promotion of public programs and events through calendar submissions.
