Job summary

Jensen Landscape Services is seeking a Landscape Pest Control Technician to oversee the prevention and treatment of pests and diseases on commercial landscapes. You will apply fertilizers and pesticides, calculate product quantities, and ensure safe handling on turf and landscape areas.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of commercial pesticide operator experience, a valid state driver license, and a pesticide license preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of commercial pesticide operator experience.
  • Valid driver license issued by the state where employed.
  • Pesticide license issued by the state where employed, preferred.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong sense of customer service and urgency.

Responsibilities

Nature of Work

Responsible for the successful prevention and/or treatment of pest and disease presence on commercial landscape.

Essential Functions of the Job
  • Perform fertilization, herbicide and pest management treatments on turf using approved spray equipment
  • Calculate product and carrier quantities
  • Properly mix and apply plant protection and/or fertilizer products using various types of application equipment
  • Safe Handling and use of all chemicals
  • Properly complete required paperwork
Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • At least 2 years of commercial pesticide operator experience
  • As required by state and federal law
  • Valid driver license issued by the state where employed
  • Pesticide License issued by the state where employed, preferred
  • Strong sense of customer service and urgency
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral , diagram and/or schedule format
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
  • Constantly required to talk, hear, see, sit, stand and walk
  • Must be able to see at close vision, distant vision, peripherally, have depth perception and have the ability to adjust focus
  • Frequent use of hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Frequently required to reach, bend, twist, stoop, crouch, climb and balance
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and seldom lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Occasionally works with mechanical objects and outside in all weather conditions
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Occasionally exposed to loud noise levels
