Job summary

Smithfield is seeking a CDL driver to move refrigerated trailers and tankers around the plant yard and nearby cold storage areas. You will operate a semi-tractor, perform light maintenance, and ensure temperatures meet customer requests.

Requirements include at least 1 year of truck driving, a valid Class A CDL, a clean driving record, and the ability to work independently. Overtime and weekend shifts may be required during peak periods.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year truck driving experience.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift.
• General mechanical knowledge.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and efficiently and effectively manage time.
• Bilingual (preferred) and able to work with a diverse workforce.
• Must be able to work flexible hours; possibly to work overtime, 6 to 7 days per week during peak times, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine light maintenance on equipment (cleanliness, pre-inspection, etc.).
• Set and monitor unit temperatures according to individual customer requests.

• Hourly Competitive Starting Pay – 22.15/hour $1.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift positions

Noise level in the work environment is usually loud when in the production area. Open and close trailers doors and seal (push and pull). Able to crawl up and down a ladder to and from semi-tractor approximately 25 times or more per hour. Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
