Job summary

Coastal Waste & Recycling is seeking a Facility Traffic Coordinator to manage the safe flow of customer vehicles and heavy equipment across our post-collection facilities. You will inspect incoming loads, guide traffic, and support frontline operations with a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• 1+ year in construction, waste/recycling, transportation, manufacturing, warehousing, or similar physically demanding work.
• Strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to stay alert and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience around moving vehicles and heavy equipment; bilingual abilities and certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct safe directional flow of customer vehicles, trucks and heavy equipment.
• Direct incoming traffic to disposal locations by material type and need.
• Visually inspect loads for unacceptable or hazardous materials.
• Communicate with operators and leadership about loads needing special handling.
• Monitor patterns to maintain safe, efficient vehicle movement.
• Assist customers with disposal procedures and provide friendly service.
• Identify unsafe conditions or environmental concerns and report them.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas through housekeeping.
• Follow safety policies and environmental regulations; use PPE.
• Support general labor, special projects, storm response, and other needs.

As a Facility Traffic Coordinator at Coastal Waste & Recycling, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the safe and efficient flow of customer vehicles, commercial trucks, and heavy equipment throughout our post-collection facilities.

Your Role

As a Facility Traffic Coordinator, you'll be responsible for coordinating the directional flow of traffic throughout the facility, inspecting incoming loads, assisting customers, and communicating with heavy equipment operators to ensure safe and efficient operations. You'll serve as one of the first points of contact for customers entering the site while helping maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate the safe directional flow of customer vehicles, commercial trucks, and heavy equipment throughout the facility.

• Direct incoming traffic to the appropriate disposal locations based on material type and operational needs.

• Perform visual inspections of incoming loads to identify unacceptable, hazardous, or prohibited materials.

• Communicate with heavy equipment operators and operations leadership regarding loads requiring special handling.

• Monitor traffic patterns to maintain safe and efficient vehicle movement throughout the facility.

• Assist customers with disposal procedures while providing professional and friendly customer service.

• Identify and report unsafe conditions, environmental concerns, damaged equipment, or operational issues.

• Maintain clean and organized work areas through housekeeping and general site maintenance.

• Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and operating procedures.

• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safely work around heavy equipment and commercial vehicles.

• Support general labor activities, special projects, storm response, and other operational needs as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

• One (1) or more years of experience in construction, waste and recycling, transportation, manufacturing, warehousing, industrial operations, or another physically demanding work environment.

• Strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to remain alert and make sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.

• Strong observational skills with attention to detail.

• Ability to work safely around moving vehicles and heavy equipment.

• Experience in landfill, transfer station, construction, or heavy industrial operations, a valid driver's license, bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole), and traffic control or landfill certifications are a plus.
