Job summary

Sargent Metal is hiring a Spot Weld/ PEM Operator to install hardware and perform welding per engineering specs. You will operate equipment safely, read blueprints, and maintain quality and productivity. The role requires standing for long shifts and lifting up to 50 lbs with a strong work ethic and teamwork across departments.

The position includes a 2nd shift with premium pay and on-site work at our Anderson, SC facility, supporting production goals and timely delivery.

Job Description

Work Schedule: 2nd Shift — Monday-Thursday 4:30pm-3am
Shift Premium: Additional $1.50 for each hour worked on 2nd shift
SUMMARY

The Spot Weld / PEM Operator is responsible for installing hardware and performing spot welding operations on metal parts in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards. This role supports production goals by operating equipment safely, maintaining productivity, and ensuring consistent part quality.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Functions

Set up and operate spot weld and PEM machines safely and efficiently.

Install hardware onto metal parts according to blueprints, work instructions, and quality requirements.

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and production documentation.

Maintain productivity standards while producing parts that meet quality expectations.

Accurately clock production and complete required quality documentation within the company ERP system.

Perform routine inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.

Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates regarding production status, quality concerns, and equipment issues.

Follow and provide clear verbal and written instructions as required.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Follow all OSHA, company safety, and equipment maintenance procedures.

Promote teamwork, positive communication, and adherence to company values.

Follow all verbal and written instructions, as well as safety and quality protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a metal manufacturing environment preferred.

Prior experience with spot welding and/or PEM insertion equipment preferred.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings preferred.

Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

Ability to stand for 10–12 hours per shift and lift up to 50 lbs.

Strong work ethic and willingness to support team success across departments.

Availability and willingness to work overtime as needed to support production demands.
