Job summary

Gila River Resorts & Casinos in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Sports Book associate to assist guests with wagering on global sporting events and protect assets per the GILA WAY.

Responsibilities include educating guests on how to wager, handling cash, writing and cashing tickets, and balancing the cash drawer while maintaining compliance with Title 31 and internal controls. The role requires excellent guest service skills and the ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Work varied shifts to include weekends and holidays.
• Ability to perform the GILA WAY: Greet, interact, listen, and appreciate our guests.

• Promotes and provides excellent guest service experiences to both internal and external guests.
• Ensures compliance with Gila River Casinos and Arizona Department of Gaming Compact rules and regulations and internal controls.
• Ability to handle and deal with verbal and/or behavioral conflicts.
• Remains diplomatic during situations of verbal disagreement with guests.
• Reports any problems or suspicious activities to Sports Book Supervisor.
• Writes and cashes tickets in accordance with departmental policy and ensure Title 31 compliance.
• Maintain and balance cash drawer.
• Educate guests on how to wager on all sporting events.
• Perform basic math for counting chips and currency issued to and received from each guest.
• If part-time, willingness and ability to work varying days and hours at all casino locations.
• Maintains a dependable work attendance record with extremely infrequent absences and/or lateness.
• Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

To help and assist with the placement of wagers on all sporting events from around the globe, while protecting the assets, as well as demonstrating the GILA WAY.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Must possess excellent guest service skills, strong telephone etiquette, a self-starter with the ability to follow-up and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimum supervision.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as well as to gain the cooperation of guests and fellow team members.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
• This position must have, or an ability to acquire within one year, an in-depth knowledge and thorough understanding of Enterprise Policies and Procedures, governmental regulations, and technical rules relevant to their responsibilities.
